Laughter is surely one of humanity's(人道, 人性) greatest gifts, for the ability to laugh--- to appreciate the pleasure or absurdity(荒谬) in daily activities---- allows people, young and old alike, to keep problems in perspective(洞察力). Children are natural laughers. In situations, both appropriate(适当的) and inappropriate , the chuckles(咯咯地笑), giggles(傻笑), and outright peals(洪亮的) of laughter of children can emphasize their innocence(清白), their joyl ignorance(无知) of the problems of the world. Levity(轻率) among s is, unfortunately, far less common, but it is equally welcome. How fortunate are the s who can react to potentially(潜在地) frustrating(使人沮丧的) situations--- a collapsed(的) tent(帐篷), a split(劈开) seam(缝) in a pair of pants(裤子), a surprise guest--- and see the sheer(全然的) absurdity(荒谬) of their attempts to maintain absolute control. Laughter expresses pleasure, eases(缓和) tension, and lifts the spirit,. It is a gift we should all share often.
