Education is the key to the modernizations of our country. The extent to which children are educated is directly of vital importance to the improvement of our comprehensive national power. Howr, in some poverty-stricken rural areas, few school-agers can afford to go to school because of lack of financial support. Therefore, the CYDF (China Youth De velopment Foundation) is determined to carry on a financial plan to prnt them from quiting school, which is called Project Hope.
The Project is of great necessity. As we know, the children are the hope and ture of China. Their being deprived of education will not only result in lack of human resources in those backward areaut also hold back the economic dlop ment of these areas and n the whole country. Moreover, the Chinese govern ment is not likely to provide a large amount of money for the dreds of thousands of school outs. Therefore, the Project Hope is initiated by CYDF to offer financial assistance for these young stets.
My suggestion is that people from all walks of life should be encouraged to finance the Project with their deeper love and stronger sense of responsibility for these children. And I am sure that the Project Hope has been meeting with hearty and generous response.
